Argentine striker Darío “Pipa” Benedetto landed this Thursday at the Ezeiza airport in Buenos Aires to close his ticket to Boca Juniors, club where he played between 2016 and 2019.

Boca always beats me. Now do the review, hopefully everything is fine and we can sign the contract, but the truth is very happy to return to the club”, the 31-year-old soccer player told the media.

Surrounded by a group of fans, Benedetto acknowledged that he missed the feeling of playing for Boca Juniors, a team he left after losing the final of the Copa Libertadores in Madrid against his eternal rival, River Plate.

I was missing a lot, I received a call from Román (Riquelme) in June of last year, I told him that it was not the time, that I had two clubs and Elche was one of them. I wanted to try what it felt like to play in the Spanish League”, stated the striker.

I served six months, I didn’t get the minutes I wanted and I called Román and told him that I wanted to return to the club and nothing, today, very happy with the decision I made”, he added.

The “Pipa” acknowledged feeling “very good”, both physically and mentally.

I always said that if I returned to Boca it would not be to be physically ill and not be able to compete. I am at 100%, thinking about all the things that the club is playing for, so nothing, I come to compete”, said Benedetto, for whom the Copa Libertadores is Xeneize’s “maximum goal”.

The Argentine striker left Elche, in the Spanish first division, after playing fourteen games and scoring two goals in 587 minutes.
