Clubs ask to postpone the start of League 1 due to lack of guarantees to play with the public

The Sports Association of Professional Football (ADFP), through a letter, requested that the start of the League 1 be postponed, because the teams that will be local on the first date did not have the 12 business days to manage the guarantees before the corresponding authorities and there is a risk that the matches will be without an audience.

“Having carried out a new draw for the preparation of the fixture of the League 1 -2022 tournament, which took place on Monday, January 24 of the current year, the clubs that resulted in local status of the 1st. date they have not had the twelve business days indicated by law to start the process of submitting the security plan to the corresponding authorities”.

“For this reason, the Directorate of Sports Security -DISEDE- of the Peruvian Institute of Sports, has not proceeded to deliver the corresponding guarantees to the local clubs on this date, for having submitted the indicated request outside the established period”, they add in the statement.

The teams that will be local on the first date are: César Vallejo, UTC de Cajamarca, Alianza Lima, Deportivo Municipal, Sport Huancayo, Melgar, Carlos Stein and Academia Cantolao.

On the first date, San Martín will receive Binacional. A duel of teams that have not had a preseason like the other clubs. In terms of signings, the gap is also significant.

The championship has 19 teams, which means that one team has to rest each day. There will be two rounds: the Opening and the Closing, 19 dates for each one. The tournament will culminate between the end of October and the beginning of November.
