Meta will not continue its digital wallet service, Novi

Goal plans to end the Novi pilot program, which will no longer be available from September 1, and has recommended that users of this service withdraw their funds “as soon as possible”.

Novi is the digital wallet service that allows you to send and receive payments in cryptocurrency through a chat in the messaging application. These payments are made with Pax Dollars, a cryptocurrency pegged to the dollar.

The company launched the application in a trial period in both the United States and Guatemala in October 2021. Shortly after, it expanded the scope of the ‘app’ by allowing payments with cryptocurrencies also through WhatsApp.

Now, has announced via its help page that its pilot program is coming to an end. Specifically, both its ‘app’ and its presence on WhatsApp will no longer be available as of September 1.

In addition to announcing the end date of this service, Meta has indicated As of July 21, customers will not be able to add money to their respective Novi accounts.

In the statement you can read that, once this period ends, the user will not be able to log in or access their Novi account. For this reason, Meta has recommended that its clients withdraw their funds “as soon as possible”.

The company has indicated that if a user still has a balance in their account after September 1, it will try to transfer it to their bank account or an associated credit card.

Meta has also offered users lthe possibility of requesting a copy of the personal information that they have given to the service. They will be able to do so until the end date of the pilot program.
