Sending an email to the wrong recipient, attaching the wrong file, forgetting to blind copy, or sending our boss the pdf that hadn’t been fixed yet. These are things that can happen to anyone. But let’s keep calm gmail has an option to fix this issue.
Like WhatsApp, which has already realized how important it is to allow its users to delete messages, Google email also includes this option. Next let’s learn how to do it.

Unsend an email in Gmail
The best way to understand this procedure would be to send a test email. When sending it, we will notice that, instantly, a small box will appear in the lower left corner of the screen that says “Message sent”. If we want to abort the operation, just click on the button “Undo” which is inside the mentioned box. The button is used to stop sending the email and retrieve it before the other person receives it.
Unsending the email will reopen the email draft, allowing us to make any necessary changes or delete it entirely. These steps can be done from both a PC and a mobile device (it’s the same process on Android and iPhone).

Now, the detail with this operation is that the “Undo” button usually disappears very quickly, in just five seconds, so it does not offer much time. However, we can extend the time if we change the setting.
All you have to do is go to “Setting” (the gear icon), located at the top right. Once this is done, the next thing is to press on “See all settings” in the menu that appears. Next, in the “General” tab, let’s look for the option “Undo send”.
Here we will see a drop-down box with four options: 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. For maximum security, it is convenient to choose 30 seconds. Let’s not forget to click on “Save changes”, at the bottom of the screen, to apply the new setting.
With this new configuration, the next time we realize that we have written badly or that we need to make a change, we can cancel the message and avoid getting a scare.
