Meta officially presents the Quest Pro, its new mixed reality viewer

Goal has taken advantage of this Tuesday to officially present its viewer of mixed reality Quest Pro, which will lead an open metaverse, for which the company will provide different development kits for software to third-party developers, and in which the next generation avatars will also have legs.

The company has presented its new viewer, Meta Quest Pro, at Meta Connect 2022, which is committed to mixed reality and is born from the experience gained with the VR Quest 2 helmet. The new proposal seeks a smooth transition between the physical and virtual worlds , and for greater immersion, it has magnetic light blockers.

This new visor uses pancake lenses, which are 40 percent thinner than the ones used by the Quest 2, and its LCD panels hold 37 percent more pixels than this other helmet. They also offer 75 percent more contrast and with the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ processor they increase power by 50 percent with a better cooling system.

Meta accompanies this mixed reality viewer with new controllers containing 3D positioning sensors and haptic technology for more realistic motion capture and interaction. You can add a stylus to write or draw.

Meta has ensured that mixed reality is the next big step in virtual reality and an important milestone in the construction of the metaverse. For its implementation, Quest Pro has high resolution cameras and an RGB camera that captures the real color of the environment.

Magic Room will be available next year, which mixes avatars and physical people in meetings in mixed reality. To achieve greater expressiveness in the avatars, so that they can reproduce the reactions of users in real time, the company will provide developers with Movement SDK.

As a whole, the company has highlighted that Quest Pro is a more professional team than leisure, and is designed for collaboration. It will be available from October 25 for $1,499.

Precisely to get the most out of this equipment, Meta has announced a collaboration with Microsoft, whichue will bring Microsoft 365 apps and games with X Cloud Gaming (Beta) to this viewer, and bring Meta avatars to Teams. It will also be protected with the technology of Azure.

For businesses, and in collaboration with Accenture, Meta has announced Quest for Business, a headset pack (Quest 2 or Quest Pro) and a suite of business apps that will be available next year.

Avatars play a prominent role in the integration of Meta applications, where they can currently be found, for example, as stickers. Soon they will be able to be used in the Reels, as well as in video calls on Messenger and WhatsApp.

Meta avatars will also be available on Zoom video conferences, and in addition to providing developers with the Meta Avatar SDK with support for Unreal Engine, the company will launch the avatar store later this year, where customization items can be purchased. Likewise, body representativeness will be expanded.

The next generation of avatars will also have legs, allowing users to see the full body movement of others in virtual environments. They will come to Horizon first and developers will have an SDK.

Meta has also shared news of its collaboration with Ray-Banfrom which the first sunglasses, Ray-Ban Stories, have already emerged, which will incorporate Spotify Tap, to listen to music and control the app with touches on the temples.

Also, and within this collaboration, Ray-Ban has embarked on the development of a second pair of glasses, which it hopes will be, on this occasion, a portal to the metaverse, and which is a different proposal from Project Naraze, in the one who works Meta.

The company’s Horizon applications also have new features. In the case of Worlds, the social platform, they are developing a web version that, although it will not offer the full virtual experience, will allow you to join social encounters with other people. They will also allow recording to share the moments captured on the company’s social networks.

The Horizon Workrooms work environment will allow joining rooms through Zoom next year, and from this Tuesday, users can create their personal offices.

On the other hand, the Quest 2 helmet will have Active Pack, a set of accessories to use with fitness apps and exercise without getting in the way of sweat. The developers will have a Fitness API to be able to see the metrics in other applications, and soon also to share them with selected friends.

Finally, Meta is also working on a new type of interface that brings together artificial intelligence and motor signals to create a more natural interaction in the metaverse.
