Google Meet has new features that bring video conferencing closer to in-person meetings

Google has announced new features for Meet that bring video conferencing closer to an in-person meeting, and Chat-specific controls that prevent data loss, along with opening up Smart Canvas to third parties.

Google has updated, within the framework of Google Cloud Next 2022, the Workspace service with the aim that organizations get the most out of digital work, allowing teams to communicate, collaborate, create and share ideas and get work done securely .

video conferencing service Meet has included features like adaptive framing with AI-powered cameras from Huddly and Logitechwhich allows everyone in a conference room to be seen, and speaker focus, which allows presenters to better engage their audience by embedding video directly into Google Slides.

Smart Canvas has built custom building blocks into Google Docs, allowing businesses to create their own templates. And to view and interact with third-party data, the company has announced new smart chips for AODocs, Atlassian, Asana, Figma, Miro, Tableau, and ZenDesk.

The protection of people and data is reinforced with the new data loss prevention (DLP) rules for Chat, with specific controls in real time, and the extension of Client Side Encryption to Gmail and Calendar.

On the other hand, developers will have new APIs for Meet and Chat services with which they will have access to common functions such as creating and starting meetings or starting messages directly from a third-party application.
