Telegram introduces ‘paid messages’ so that its users charge for sharing content

Telegram has introduced payment messages as a format that allows creators to monetize their multimedia content, which is only seen once the payment has been completed.

Payment messages are currently in testing. This format hides the multimedia files that the message contains, which are seen in a blurry way, and reveals them once the user has made a payment.

Before paying, the user only sees in the blurred image of the content, and in it, the amount that is requested. Clicking opens the payment dialog, which is processed through Smart Glocal Payments.

As explained by the company in the Telegram info English channel, these payment messages can be found in the verified automated account @donate, where “the funds will be transferred to the author of the content”.
