Hybrid helicopter reduces 50% of CO2 emissions and will enter real testing stage

Nowadays making 100% electric planes is not very viable, but Airbus has a proposal for a hybrid helicopter that can recharge its batteries while it flies. In this industrial sector, energy sources such as hydrogen or synthetic fuel have also been tested.

The project is called DisruptiveLab. In a hybrid helicopter that ends up opening the doors to new aircraft. It is based on the company’s H130 model, reported the Hybrid and Electric page.

Not many details are known about the project, but some characteristics of the fuselage made of aluminum have been advanced. It also points out that the blades are integrated into the rotor in a more compact way, thus reducing the impact with the air.

Testing would take place in the coming weeks. It does not yet have a production date, but the company points out that the DisruptiveLab seeks to “reduce the environmental impact of its helicopters and lead the way towards a sustainable aerospace industry.”
