Dubai becomes home to the world’s largest agritourism destination with an ambitious new project.

Architectural firm URB has unveiled plans for the ‘Agri Hub’ complex to be built in the Middle Eastern country in the coming years.

The complex will not only provide the emirate with food security for the foreseeable future, but will also become a tourist attraction of sorts.

This allows local farmers in the UAE to sell produce straight from their farms to visitors who stop by to browse eco-friendly shops, restaurants and educational opportunities.

Construction of the Agri Hub will begin next year and is estimated to require 10,000 workers to complete. The opening date is planned for 2030.

The project, which is expected to create 10,000 jobs, aims to ensure the emirate's food security while boosting tourism through entertainment and adventure. Dubai's rural and agriculturally rich communities are best positioned to become a global benchmark for agritourism. Baharash Bagherian, CEO of URB, said in a statement. Bagherian also described the Agri Hub as such

Bagherian says the project will not only provide a new tourism experience in Dubai’s countryside and wilderness, but will also bring greater health, well-being and prosperity to the local rural population.

He said the Agri Hub will ultimately serve as a blueprint for low-carbon rural tourism hubs of the future.
