Apple could launch its first mixed reality headset this year

Manzana will throw his helmet augmented reality (RA) and virtual reality (VR) under the name of Reality Pro and will do so in the fall of this year, according to Bloomberg analyst and journalist Mark Gurman.

At the end of August of last year, Bloomberg announced that the iPhone manufacturer had registered the name of this devicewhich is expected to be Reality One and will use the M2 self-developed chip with 16 GB of internal memory.

However, in the documents to which this medium had access, there were also variants such as Reality Processor and Reality Pro. Now, this same medium has confirmed that the virtual reality and augmented reality glasses will bear the latter name.

As Mark Gurman has now indicated in his ‘Power On’ newsletter, after seven years developing this device, the company “it’s almost ready” to launch its first mixed reality headset, which has already been delayed several times, with the intention of presenting it at its annual developer event and finally launching it in the fall.

Apple would have already shared this viewer with some qualified software developers to test itso that they have been able to work with third-party applications to incorporate them into the viewer, whose operating system, which is known internally as Borealis, will eventually be called xrOS.

Gurman has qualified that Apple “still have many issues to resolve with the device, involving hardware, software, and services”. Likewise, the analyst has stressed that he must also consider how to market and sell it.

In this sense, he has agreed with fellow analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, who pointed out at the beginning of December 2022 that this apple RM viewer would be delayed due to “difficulties related to your software”.

On the other hand, from Bloomberg they add that in order to focus on this viewer, the company has had to postpone the development and launch of other of its projects, which “they were already suffering from their own setbacks and budget cuts”.
