ABS system used in cars now reaches electric bicycles to avoid accidents | VIDEO

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) is one of the most used technologies in modern cars that the BOSCH company will bring to the electric bikes.

And it is that security is an important factor in transport. As detailed on the Hybrid and Electric page, the purpose of ABS is to prevent the wheels from locking when emergency braking is done.

When a lot of force is applied to the brake pedal, the ABS works to maintain control over the vehicle’s trajectory to avoid the obstacle. This same concept uses BOSCH, with speed sensors on both wheels that detect slippage.

In the case of electric bicycles, since it eliminates skidding of the rear wheel, skidding that can lead to losing control of the bicycle. How does it work? A pump actuates the brakes, minimizing slippage and consequently stopping distance.

In addition, the system was presented at CES 2023 and will have several modes, depending on the type of bicycle. It also uses speed sensors on both wheels that detect slippage. According to the company, it could reduce accidents by up to 30%.
