Getting closer to the metaverse: the first immersive park in Peru opened its doors

He metaverse It is a virtual world, which we can access with different devices that will help us interact with its various elements. Almost like walking into a videogame, so we can walk, buy, sell and even chat with other people who are connected. There are some projects in our country that are beginning to introduce the user to these immersive worlds. One of them is Magitek World, the first immersive experience park in Peru.

It is a project that makes use of augmented reality and virtual reality to raise awareness about caring for nature. Although its content is not a metaverse itself, the truth is that it is the prelude to the arrival of larger projects focused on entertaining the public through the use of these technologies.

“In our country, the use of virtual reality or the creation of metaverses is focused on business use, because large companies are the only ones capable of affording the equipment to carry out their uses. That is not the case with Magitek World. In this park it is sought that any person or family is immersed in it through the immersive experience. It is about transmitting a message to the end user, that they coexist with the development of extended realities”declares Roberto Carrion, General Manager of Stringnet, the company in charge of the development of Magitek World.

The first immersive park in Peru

According to statements by Carrión, this project had already been underway since 2019, but due to delays due to the pandemic, its development was inactive for a few years. The theme of the park was chosen to be “familiar and entertaining”, but at the same time it had to leave a message to Magitek visitors.

“Caring for the environment and exhibiting a variety of animals were the key to attracting the public to visit us, especially the little ones”says Carrion.

The age of the metaverse

Magitek World would be just the tip of the iceberg of all the projects that have been carried out with immersive technologies. It is true that many of them come hand in hand with business initiatives, in this sense the metaverse helps to make the leap in this type of interaction for companies and their consumers. However, beyond the possibilities of acquiring the equipment, What other causes motivate companies to bet on this technology?

The General Manager in Peru of NTT DATA, a consulting and technology management company, Javier Hoyle Passano points out that “Companies are increasingly betting on incorporating the metaverse into their projects. This could make it appear that this resource is used for business purposes. But it is quite the opposite. The more you bet on it, the more possibilities there will be for the general public to access its benefits.”
