Peruvian spacecraft made to transit on Mars and the Moon will be evaluated by NASA

A team of Peruvian researchers completed the construction of the Human Power Vehicle (HPV), a vehicle capable of transiting on Mars and the Moon and that will be evaluated by none other than the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (POT).

It is a contest in which 61 universities from different parts of the world participate, and two of them are from Peru. In the case of the Human Power Vehicle, 49 members of the faculties of the University of Piura (UDEP) participated.

“This stage has been the formal presentation of the vehicle and a big step for the final stage that will be from April 8 to 20 in the United States, at the NASA Space & Rocket Center, in Hunstville, Alabama,” said Dr. Carlos Ojeda, academic advisor to the Ares Project.

As detailed by the university, for the construction of the vehicle they have followed resistance criteria, transmission by slotted flat belt, steering and suspension, with springs and flexible arms, which allow the vehicle to cushion the blows of rough terrain on Mars and the Moon.
