Spotify launches Niche Mixes playlist to combine the music you listen to with your latest discoveries

Spotify has launched a new set of custom playlists called ‘Niche Mixes’, combining listener favorites with music yet to be discovered, intended to accompany any specific activity or time of the day of the user.

The streaming music platform already offers personalized playlists, created by the application itself, with which users can listen to music according to their mood, their feelings or by discovering new artists, such as the ‘Mood’ lists. Mixes’ or ‘Genre Mixes’.

Now, Spotify has added Niche Mixes to the Spotify Mixes so that, regardless of the moment or the activity that users are carrying out, they can accompany it with personalized playlists that combine “everything that Mixes offer in a playful way”.

As the platform explains in a statement on its blog, Spotify has created this feature in order to offer listeners “tens of thousands of Mixes” exclusives based on “almost anything you can think of”from a list to sing while driving to a list to run to the rhythm of the music of the 80s.

Specifically, these custom Mixes use Spotify’s algorithm to combine music across artists, genres, and decades that the listener was already listening to with songs that fit the list and are yet to be discovered. Also, each Mix will be updated daily with new songs.

To access these playlists, the user must access the ‘Search’ tab and click on the ‘Made for you’ center. Thus, listeners will be able to find between five and ten mixes suggested by the platform based on their tastes.

Likewise, if you want to search a list for a specific activity or environment, it will be enough for the user to describe the moment in the search bar and add the word “mix” in the end. Spotify emphasizes that the more mixes searched, the more music can be discovered.

The new Niche Mixes playlists have already been released globally to both free users and subscribers, although they will only appear with English searches.
