SpaceX’s Starship rocket explodes in the sky shortly after liftoff

the big rocket starship of the company SpaceX it exploded in the skies of Texas (USA) a few minutes after a successful takeoff for reasons yet to be determined, although the company’s engineers indicated that they considered the test to be good, which could be tried again in a few months.

The owner of SpaceX, the billionaire Elon Musk, reacted immediately on his Twitter account to congratulate his teams and encourage them to continue working on a project whose ultimate goal is to have a device that will take humans to the Moon and Mars.

“Congratulations team on an exciting test launch of Starship. I learned a lot for the next test launch in a few months,” Musk said.

“In a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s test will help us improve Starship’s confidence as SpaceX seeks to make life ‘multiplanetary’,” said the company, which despite the explosion He considered positive what happened over the sky of his base called Starbase and located on the Texas coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

Today was SpaceX’s second attempt to test the large Starship rocket project, designed to transport people to Earth orbit, the Moon and Mars, which is composed of a ship (Starship) and a propellant (Super Heavy Rocket) fully integrated.

Starship had to withdraw from takeoff last Monday after technicians discovered that a pressurization valve was frozen.

WORK WILL CONTINUE

SpaceX noted that the team’s engineers “will continue to review the data and work towards our next flight test,” although, at the moment, there is no precise information on what happened to cause the rocket to explode unplanned.

Although in the first moments of takeoff it seemed that everything was going according to plan, the rocket began to spin on its axis and instead of separating, as planned in the first stage of flight, the ship ended up exploding and without finish the 90 minute voyage before splashing down near Hawaii.

Musk had previously made it clear that the test had a 50-50 chance of failing.

SpaceX’s own commentators, during the live broadcast, were enthusiastic despite the fact that not everything went as scheduled and the rocket exploded.

Today’s mission was scheduled for takeoff, a run and splashdown of the first stage of the rocket, the Super Heavy, in the Gulf of Mexico, while the Starship was going to do it in Hawaii.

The ship should have separated, but Starship and Super Heavy still exploded together after spinning out of control for a few seconds before turning into a ball of fire.

RETURN TO THE MOON

Starship is a fully reusable transportation system designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, return to the Moon, and travel to Mars.

The height of the huge rocket and ship is 120 meters (394 feet), the diameter is 9 meters (29.5 feet), and it can carry 100 to 150 metric tons of cargo, extendable to 250 tons.

SpaceX closes today’s session with the explosion of the rocket, which its technicians consider practically a success, having passed a critical phase of the flight with takeoff and verifying that the new engines worked, at least partially.

The company has not detailed what the exact technical problems were or the exact date of the next takeoff attempt, although Musk himself pointed to months.

The Starship, when fully operational, is designed to carry up to 100 people on long-duration interplanetary flights.
