Some of the passenger transport and food delivery services of uber will be offered by the autonomous or driverless vehicles of Waymo – a subsidiary of Alphabet – later this year in the metropolitan area of Phoenix (Arizona), as announced by the companies on Tuesday.

“Now, we’re partnering to bring together Waymo’s world-leading autonomous driving technology with the massive scale of Uber’s ride-sharing and delivery networks.”, the companies stressed in a statement.
Through this collaboration, Uber users will be able to request a Waymo vehicle through the Waymo One application in more than 180 square miles (about 466 square kilometers) and this will be “the largest fully autonomous service area in the world”, indicates.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said fully autonomous driving is fast becoming a part of everyday life and was pleased to bring Waymo technology to Uber to provide, he said, a “safe, enjoyable and fully electric and autonomous experience”.
