CES 2024: how the ‘Vegas Loop’, Elon Musk’s transportation alternative, works

The Loop, the project of The Boring Company (from Elon Musk) which was born with the purpose of relieving traffic through a route of underground tunnels through which only Tesla cars circulate, is still far from its goal. But, in the city of Las Vegas it has become a point of interest for tourists to visit the station and try the service.

During our visit to CES, the technology convention held annually in the state of Nevada, we went to the location of The Loop located in the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) looking to live the experience and, in the process, save some of the time.

The Las Vegas Convention Center is the setting for the immense fair that has technological exhibitors from all continents and that can be exhausting to navigate on foot, so accredited press usually pass by The Loop station at some point to move between the LVCC pavilions.

This service began operating in April 2021. To date, according to figures from The Boring Company’s official website, LVCC Loop has transported more than 1.5 million passengers with an average of 4,500 passengers per hour and more of 32,000 passengers per day.

The LVCC Loop consists of 1.7 miles of tunnel and was built in about a year. At the Las Vegas Convention Center, the loop connects the West Hall to the North/Central/South zones and reduces travel time from 45 minutes to approximately two minutes.
