The dream of own car Manzana was truncated. Or, at least, he reached the end of the current path: a development carried out for more than a decade, which he never managed to start and which now remains at a standstill.
According to Bloomberg, the current managers of the Titan project, to create a car within Apple, Jeff Williams and Kevin Lynch, told the nearly 2,000 employees working on the company’s electric car. These experts will join other divisions of the company related to artificial intelligence.

The company’s original intention (who never confirmed that they were developing a vehicle) was to present an electric and autonomous car for 2020, but the project suffered multiple twists and turns over the years, with the departure and arrival of multiple executives and experts in the area.
Apple was betting on rethinking all the basic ideas that cars have applied in the last hundred years, from what type of steering wheel it should have to the shape of the body or the type of engine. Everything according to rumors: officially there was never any certain information, although the hiring of experts such as Luigi Taraborelli, which during the last two decades was responsible for the chassis and aerodynamics of the models developed by Lamborghini and a year ago he joined Apple, they raised suspicions. In 2021, Doug Field, a former Tesla executive and director of the Apple car project since 2018, had left for Ford. It was not a good prediction.
The decision contrasts with that of other competitors: Xiaomi, for example, recently introduced an electric sports car; Huawei, another electronics giant, has also done it. Both chose to follow a more conservative path: instead of reinventing the car, they created their own traditionally styled ones associated with Chinese auto manufacturing giants. Sony has also partnered with Honda to manufacture electric cars. And Alphabet – the company that owns Google – has Waymo, a manufacturer of autonomous electric cars to use as taxis.
