With giant wings and an interior redesign: this is what the planes of the future will be like

The commercial aviation has remained static for several decades, in terms of the structure of the planes and its design, but this could change with a new proposal from JetZero with a plane with giant wings.

It’s not just an airplane design on paper. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States has just given permission for tests to be carried out with a scale airplane.

As detailed by the same company, it will be a 7-meter, 1:8 scale version of the full-size aircraft. A fairly important step so that I can fly in the near future.

Report from the media El Español-Omicrono indicates that JetZero calls the design “combined wings.” As you can see, the Pathfinder’s wings occupy a large part of the structure and practically appear to be part of the body of the plane, and a part of the fuselage also acts as a wing providing lift.

Tom O’Leary, co-founder and CEO of JetZero, has indicated to the media that this can only be done now due to the existence of light and resistant materials, and “the mixed-wing fuselage can offer 50% less fuel consumption and emissions.”

JetZero’s plans are to demonstrate the flight of a full-scale aircraft by 2027. It is planned to have a commercial plane for more than 200 passengers, another cargo plane and a military tanker plane.
