Hackers claim to have stolen the country’s identity card data

Hackers claim to have stolen almost all of Argentina’s identity card database. About 45 million people are said to be affected. Several data from these documents have been on sale on the Internet for a few weeks, with all the information: photos, first and last names, addresses, dates of birth, administrative processing numbers (Tramite), identification barcode, reports The Record, relayed by 01net. What to make false identity papers.

Before revealing the extent of the theft, hackers had, shortly before, disseminated the data of 44 known people on Twitter. Among these personalities, footballers Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.

Authorities deny theft

Following these broadcasts, the government affirmed that there had indeed been illegitimate access to the database, from a poorly protected VPN account. The authorities, however, denied the theft of all information.

For their part, hackers continue to claim the opposite. Contacted by The Record, they agreed to submit to a test. They managed to provide the data of a citizen, chosen by the information site. The thugs explained that they planned to publish the data “of one or two million people” soon.
