Google marks the start of summer with a doodle

Google He put aside – momentarily – his Seasonal Holidays doodle to remind us that today, Tuesday, December 21, begins the summer solstice 2021, which marks the beginning of the hottest season in the southern hemisphere.

The doodle, a hedgehog with sunglasses walking on a hot day, will be seen throughout South America, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.

In the other hemisphere, on the contrary, the doodle of a hedgehog characterized according to winter, which is displayed in North America, Russia and Europe.

The summer solstice marks the change of season from spring to summer and occurs because the Sun reaches its maximum decline in the southern hemisphere with respect to the Earth’s equator.

In the year there are two solstices, the first in 2021 occurred on June 20 (winter in the southern hemisphere) and today, December 21, the second will occur for Peru and the rest of the countries of South America.
