Over the weeks, restrictions have been lifted in the area affected by the volcano, but authorities warn that some dangers remain.

One is the emission of toxic gases that has been detected at various points in the lava flows; another, the presence of material that is still extremely hot under the already solidified crust.

During its 85 days of activity, from September 19 until December 25, when the end of the eruption was officially declared, the volcano expelled tons of ash, gases and lava, which reached the sea forming two lava deltas and forced evacuate thousands of people.

In addition, the magma invaded thousands of hectares, destroying buildings, crops and everything in its path.
