Italy: the mask outdoors will no longer be mandatory from February 11

The Minister of Health of ItalyRoberto Speranza, today signed an ordinance by which masks will no longer be mandatory outdoors from February 11, although they must be used in the event of crowds.

His ministry explained that all citizens must carry a mask with them to be able to use it outdoors if there are excessive people concentrated in the same space.

In addition, it will continue to be mandatory indoors, a measure that is maintained in order to control the spread of the coronavirus while vaccination continues for the entire population, including children, who are further behind.

The ordinance is valid until March 31, the date on which the state of emergency decreed in Italywhich allows the Government to adopt containment measures quickly.

The Italian ministry explained in another note that it is studying a progressive lifting of capacity restrictions in stadiums and other indoor and outdoor sports facilities.

Thus, it is being analyzed to open these spaces from March 1 to 75% capacity if they are open and 60% if they are covered, and then, if the epidemiological data are positive, the trend will continue so that they can be completely filled.

Italy accumulates 11.7 million total infections of coronavirus since the emergency began in the country, in February 2020 and almost 150,000 deaths.

91.24% of the population over 12 years of age have already received at least one dose against the coronavirus and 88.45% have completed the cycle, while 34.87% of those under 5 to 11 years of age have already they have at least one puncture and 20.07% have the complete pattern.
