The discovery occurred on January 30 after a police investigation after a call alerting them to the disappearance of a minor, although it is not clear who reported the disappearance or how long he was missing.

A police officer appeared that day at the couple’s home and, while talking to the boy’s mother, he noticed a structure inside the garage that the woman described as a small office.

The next day, the boy was located at school and detectives were able to interview him and determine that the adoptive parents “He had been physically abused and forcibly confined within that structure in the garage since at least 2017.”

According to detectives, the boy’s parents allowed him to attend class, but, when he returned home, he was locked in the room for the rest of the day, to the point that he ate there and relieved himself in a bucket.
