Ukraine and Western countries have prevented Russian “escalation”, celebrates the Ukrainian Foreign Minister

Ukraine and Western countries managed to prevent a Russian escalation, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba congratulated himself on Tuesday, shortly after the announcement that some Russian troops are withdrawing from the border line.

“Together with our partners, we have managed to prevent a new Russian escalation”celebrated the person in charge.

“It is already mid-February and we see that diplomacy continues to work,” added Kuleba in statements to journalists.

His rally came a day after Russia admitted the possibility of further talks with Western countries to resolve tensions caused by Moscow’s rejection of NATO influence in Eastern Europe and Ukraine’s intention to join the alliance.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday that some of the more than 100,000 troops it has deployed to the border with Ukraine have begun returning to their bases after completing military exercises.

Ukrainian officials spent weeks questioning US intelligence reports that Russia was preparing an imminent attack by deploying troops.

But Kuleba stressed that tension remains along the border and that Russia must withdraw its remaining troops.

“We have a rule: don’t believe what you hear, believe what you see. When we see a withdrawal, we will believe in de-escalation, ”he expressed.
