Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov claims to be in Ukraine fighting alongside Russian troops

The leader of the republic russian of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, a protégé of Russian President Vladimir Putin, assured Monday that he is in Ukraine alongside the Moscow forces in their offensive against this country.

Kadyrovaccused by international NGOs of serious human rights violations in the Caucasus republic, posted a video on Telegram in which he appears in military uniform while studying plans with soldiers around a table.

He later assured in a message that the video was recorded at Gostomel, an airfield located near Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, controlled by Russian forces in the first days of the offensive.

The information could not be independently verified.

“The other day we were about 20 km from you Kiev Nazis, and now we are even closer”wrote Kadyrov calling on Ukrainian forces to surrender “or they will be liquidated.”

Kadyrovwho runs Chechnya with an iron fist, is close to the Kremlin and has a paramilitary militia called the “kadyrovtsy”.

At the beginning of the Russian offensive, images circulated on social networks from a place in Grozny, the Chechen capital, full of soldiers who said be ready to go Ukraine.

The forces commanded by Kadyrov they have been accused of numerous abuses in Chechnya.
