In an interview published today by the British newspaper The Times, the head of the United Kingdom diplomacy expressed these fears, while indicating that it is up to the Ukrainian leader, Volodímir Zelensky, to choose how his country approaches this peace dialogue.

According to the minister, if Moscow were serious about these peace talks with kyiv, it would not employ the military methods it is currently using to attack Ukraine: “If a country is serious about (peace) negotiations, it does not bomb civilians indiscriminate on a daily basis,” observed the conservative politician.

The head of the Foreign Office was “very skeptical” about these negotiations and pointed out that “we are seeing a threat to create space for the Russians to regroup.”

“We don’t see any serious withdrawal of Russian troops or any proposals on the table,” Truss said.

The minister also recalled that “the Russians have lied and lied and lied” and said that she “fears” that “the negotiation is another attempt to create distraction and create a smokescreen.”

“Of course, Ukraine is a sovereign nation and has every right to undertake any negotiation process as it sees fit,” he said.

Western officials have warned that the Russians have “huge” stockpiles of ammunition, which could keep up the bombing for weeks.

However, data from the latest military intelligence report released today by the British Ministry of Defense on Twitter indicates that the Kremlin has not yet achieved any of its initial objectives in Ukraine and that Russian troops have been surprised by the “magnitude and ferocity ” of the Ukrainian resistance.
