The US detects an increase in Russian naval activity in the Black Sea, from where Ukraine is bombed

United States detected an increase in Russian naval activity in the Black Sea, from where it is attacking the port city of Odessa with artillery, in Ukrainea senior Pentagon official said Monday.

The source stressed in a call with journalists that The Russians have “little more than a dozen warships, amphibious combat vessels of different classes and sizes, surface ships, minesweepers and patrol boats, which they have stationed in the northern Black Sea.”

In this sense, the official indicated that some of the artillery attacks against Odessa are the result of the activities of that Russian fleet, “especially amphibious combat craft.”

However, he stressed that this does not mean that there will be an imminent amphibious assault on that location.

The source indicated that at a general level the Russian advance is paralyzed in Ukraine and the US has not detected that reinforcements have arrived to help the Russian forces stationed in the neighboring country.

“We have seen the Russians talk about the possibility of bringing in reinforcements from outside of Russia, from outside of Ukraine, but again, there has been no movement yet.”he remarked.

The official stressed that today Washington calculates that the Russian combat force is below 90% in Ukrainewhile recalling that Moscow has allocated large amounts of resources to this country: “75% of its capacity to generate tactical battalion groups”.

Battalion tactical groups are typical of the Russian Armed Forces and are units with a high level of preparation to wage high-intensity combat with different types of weapons at any time.

The US source added that the US believes Russia is employing in its invasion of Ukraine more than 60% of its aviation, both fighter planes and helicopters, although it indicated that it has suffered losses.
