Roman Abramovich was intoxicated with tear gas and was not poisoned, according to Turkish media

The alleged intoxication of the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovichat the beginning of March, was due to a gas canister that exploded in its path in kyiv, and not to poisoning, several Turkish media affirm this Thursday.

Both the Turkish digital newspaper Haberturk like the chain CNNTurk assure today that the symptoms of burning skin and eyes attributed to Abramovich were caused by a gas canister that exploded next to him as he was leaving a meetingalthough they do not specify the source of information.

The American newspaper Wall Street Journal published last Monday that Abramovich suffered “symptoms of possible poisoning” after participating in a negotiating round between Russia and Ukraine in kyiv on March 3.

Abramovich traveled in the first week of March from Istanbul to kyiv to meet with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyand with Deputy Rustem Umerov.

According to the version provided today by the Turkish media, when leaving the building where the meeting had been held, a gas canister exploded as Abramovich and three of his companions, causing symptoms of burning and temporary loss of visionsays the digital Habertürk.

The tycoon was immediately flown to Ankara, where he was treated at the public central hospital, although his presence was not made public and the record of the visit was kept secret.

The newspaper Habertürk emphasizes that it is not known with certainty whether the explosion of the gas canister was fortuitous or caused with the intention of sabotaging the negotiations.

Abramovich participated last Tuesday in the negotiations between Moscow and kyiv in Istanbul, as a member of the Russian delegation.
