“Our forces bombarded enemy positions in the snake island”, the Southern command of the Ukrainian army noted on Facebook on Tuesday night.

The Ukrainian army said the bombardment hit a “checkpoint” and destroyed an anti-aircraft defense system and said it was trying to determine “the casualties” suffered by the Russian forces.

Russia, which took control of the snake island on the first day of the military offensive, he did not confirm until now that he had been the target of a bombardment in that place.

the little one snake island became a symbol of the Ukrainian resistance after a group of Ukrainian border guards rejected the intimation to surrender launched from the Russian ship “Moskva” with a radio message that went viral on social networks: “Fuck you, ship! Russian military!”

Shortly after, the “Moskva” bombed the island and the Russian soldiers who landed there captured the Ukrainian soldiers, who were later exchanged for Russian prisoners, according to the Ukrainian authorities.

The “Moskva”, flagship of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea, sank in mid-April after being hit by two Ukrainian missiles. Russia acknowledges that one sailor died and 27 were missing, but says the ship sank due to a fire caused by an explosion on board.
