Zelensky conditions Ukraine’s neutrality to the liberation of all its territory

In an interview broadcast today by the Saudi television channel Al Arabiya, Zelensky stated that “the Russians insist on neutrality and for us the most important thing is the liberation of Donbas and all the temporarily occupied territories, as well as the Crimean peninsula, who is also busy,” he said.

Zelensky again accused Russia, which demands that Ukraine commits not to join NATO and remain neutral, of trying to divide his country through a referendum in the occupied territories on its independence like the one carried out in Crimea. in 2014, when this territory was annexed.

In addition to the liberation of all of Ukraine, the president insisted that, in order to accept the neutrality requested by Moscow, they require “security guarantees so as not to be the object of similar attacks in the future, and other weapons in the event of facing a war. like the current one”.

In any case, he reiterated that any decision in this regard will be submitted to “a referendum where all the people will participate.”

And regarding the progress of the negotiations, Zelensky complained that “Russian negotiators do not have the capacity to make decisions and the last word will always be held by (Russian President Vladimir) Putin”, for which he insisted on a direct dialogue between the two presidents.

On the issue of the suspension of Ukraine’s exports, an issue that worries several Arab countries, largely dependent on basic products from the European country, such as wheat or sunflowers, he stated that the siege imposed by Russian warships on the ports in his country “could cause a global food crisis” this year.
