8:32 a.m .: Zelensky promises to organize Eurovision “one day” in Mariupol

The victory of his country at Eurovision has galvanized the Ukrainian president. “Our courage impresses the world, our music conquers Europe”, reacted Volodymyr Zelensky, after the triumph of Kalush Orchestra. Several European leaders have followed suit, hailing this highly symbolic success. This victory is the “obvious reflection not only of your talent but also of Europe’s unwavering support alongside Ukraine”, declared British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, for his part, wished that the 2023 edition of Eurovision be held “in kyiv in a free and united Ukraine”. Zelensky, on the other hand, wants a place that is even more symbolic than the capital. He thus promised to organize “one day” Eurovision in a “free, peaceful and rebuilt” Mariupol. “Please help Ukraine and Mariupol! Help Azovstal”, launched on stage the singer of the Kalush Orchestra, Oleh Psiuk, whose performance was applauded.
