Mexico: 3-year-old boy who was a suspected case of acute hepatitis dies

The state of Hidalgo registers four suspected cases of acute childhood hepatitis of unknown origin, one of them corresponding to a three-year-old boy who lost his life on Wednesday morning at the La Raza de la Mexico City.

According to the Secretary of Health of the entity, Alejandro Benitez Herrerafollow-up on cases of hepatitis of unknown origin that have emerged in Hidalgo, in order to know if they could be in the range of this emerging disease that has been detected in Europe.

He explained that monitoring and follow-up is maintained in five cases, one of them is a minor belonging to the municipality of Tepeji who receives medical care in Mexico City, in this case the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (Indre) He has already ruled out that it is of unknown origin, since it was classified as hepatitis A.

There is another case in Tulancingo of a three-year-old boy who, according to relatives, is HJLP, who began to present some symptoms related to the disease.

The speed with which the picture progressed led him to liver failure, for which he had to be transferred to the La Raza hospital in Mexico City to await a transplant.

Friends and relatives of the minor carried out a campaign through social networks to ask for the support of citizens. However, this morning his death was reported.

In this regard, the Secretary of Health said that they have followed this case and at the moment the only thing left is for the Idre to rule out the type of hepatitis.

Similarly, he pointed out that there is a family outbreak of three brothers in Zacualtipán, who are also listed as suspects. These remain at home and with a favorable evolution.

Alejandro Benítez Herrera stressed that this is the time when the hepatitis, therefore, one should not fall into psychosis, but maintain the necessary measures and in the event of a case of the disease, it should be notified.
