The Senate of USA approved this Thursday with a large majority a large package of 40,000 million dollars in military and humanitarian aid so that Ukraine face the war unleashed by the Russian invasion of your territory.

The resources approved by Congress are even higher than the 33,000 million dollars that Biden had requested legislators in April to support Ukraine in the war with Russia.

“With this approval, the Senate can tell the Ukrainian people that help is already on the way. Important help, help that could help the Ukrainians emerge victorious,” Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schummer told the floor.

For his part, the leader of the Republicans, Mitch McConnell, affirmed that he helps Ukraine “it is much more than charity”, since “the security of the United States and its main strategic interests will be determined by the outcome of this fight”.

The measure was supported by all Democratic senators and almost all Republicans, with the exception of 11, most of them close to former President Donald Trump (2017-2021).

The same package was approved last week by the House of Representatives with 368 votes in favor and 57 against.

The approval of these 40,000 million dollars comes when the Government is about to exhaust the 13,600 million aid approved by the US Congress in March, after Russia began the invasion of Ukraine.

The new package is based on the shipment of weapons and ammunition, although it also includes direct economic assistance and humanitarian aid, such as the shipment of food.

It is still unknown when it will be signed by Biden, who left on Thursday for a tour of South Korea and Japan, but it is expected to be in the coming days.
