Gustavo Petro answered what he would do if he believes there is fraud in the presidential elections in Colombia

During the Definitive Debate of EL TIEMPO, in alliance with the magazine Semana, with simultaneous transmission by Citytv, the candidate of the Historical Pact, Gustavo Petrowas asked what he would do if he believes that there is a fraud or an error in the counts of the elections this Sunday, May 29.

Petro began his response by noting that “the electoral process has a pre-count that should not exist in Colombiabecause it has no legal link”.

“The pre-count has many irregularities, we were able to detect between the pre-count and the scrutiny, which is the one that has legal validity, that 700,000 votes had been made invisible to us and I think more,” said the former mayor of Bogotá.

Likewise, he added that if the pre-count that is known that Sunday “is different from what our electoral witnesses indicate, then, just as we did on March 13, we will make it public and we will ask the judges in the scrutiny to restore the truth “.

The other two candidates present at the debate were invited to comment on Petro’s response. Federico Gutiérrez decided not to commentbut Sergio Fajardo did give his opinion.

“I want to take the opportunity to delve into a topic that I have pointed out and it is in all this confrontation that we are seeing, all this atmosphere that has been taking place in these elections, tension is increasingthe grievances and this Colombia that we are seeing is not the Colombia that we want”, he indicated.

The candidate of the Centro Esperanza coalition also assured that if Gustavo Petro or Federico Gutiérrez win the elections “Colombia is going to be a powder kegthat atmosphere that has been generated of tension, insults, aggressions, with a small spark can become a catastrophe for us”.
