The US sanctions six Mexicans for supporting the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, including a municipal police officer

USA imposed economic sanctions on six Mexicans, including a police chief, for supporting or acting on behalf of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which traffics much of the fentanyl and other drugs that enter the North American country, the Treasury Department announced Thursday. .

The Treasury also sanctions Julio César Montero Pinzón, who “orchestrate assassinations of rivals and politicians”as well as four relatives of Saúl Alejandro Rincón Godoy, alias Chopa, a deceased senior official of the CJNG. Specifically his mother, two brothers and a brother-in-law.

“Violence and corruption have been fundamental to the development of the CJNG during the last decade”, Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson said, quoted in the statement.
