Ex-husband and three other people participated in the planning and murder of activist Cecilia Monzón in Mexico

Authorities from the central Mexican state of Puebla accused the ex-partner of the Mexican-Spanish activist on Tuesday Cecilia Monzonmurdered on May 21, of ordering her nephew to kill the lawyer with the help of another person.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) revealed the arrest of Javier Lopez Zavala, former partner of Monzón and former candidate for governor of the state in 2010, in addition to his nephew Jair “N” and Silvestre “N”, the latter two for being the alleged crew members of the motorcycle that chased the activist.

The Prosecutor’s report also stated that Silvestre was the one who fired a gunbrand Pietro Beretta model 92 A1 of caliber 9 millimeters, with license plate J78072Z, on six occasions against the body of the victim, which caused the injuries that ended his life.

The FGE seized objects used for the crime, such as Jair’s motorcycle, firearm and helmet, in addition to the motorcycle’s license plate, a cell phone and various personal documentation in his name.

Authorities believe Jair received the gun and motorcycle from his uncle’s own hands.

After the statements of those involved, the authorities determined that they had been organizing this event since April, so they began to study the movements that the Mexican-Spanish activist, known for defending women, had.
