A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Van province in eastern China on Sunday. Turkey.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said the quake struck at 9:35 p.m. at a depth of 18.6 kilometers (11.5 miles), near the district from Tusba in Van. The province is bordering with Iran.

Van Governor Ozan Balci told the official Anadolu news agency that there were no “negative” reports yet, but that emergency teams were working to identify any possible damage. The Turkish health minister tweeted that there were no reports of deaths or injuries.
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Van in 2011, leaving more than 600 people dead and thousands injured. In 2020, an earthquake with an epicenter in the Iranian city of Khoy and a magnitude of 5.7 killed nine people in Van.
Turkey sits on major fault lines and suffers from frequent earthquakes.
