Alias ​​’Mayimbú’, leader of a FARC dissident and one of Colombia’s most wanted criminals, dies in combat

One of the most wanted leaders of the dissidence of the FARCLeider Johany Noscué Bototo, alias “Mayimbú”, accused of murdering social and political leaders in the Colombian department of Cauca (southwest), died in a military operation, the Government reported Monday.

The combat loss of alias “Mayimbú” was confirmed by the Colombian president, Ivan Dukewho pointed out that the guerrilla fell in Operation Jaguar, which took place “in the municipality of Suárez, Cauca.”

According to the president, Noscué was a “ringleader of the FARC dissidents and one of the most wanted criminals in Colombia.”

“This criminal has been a murderer of social leadersperpetrator of terrorist attacks, including car bombs like the one from months ago in one of the municipalities of Cauca, in Santander de Quilichao”said Duke in a statement he gave at the Casa de Nariño.

The head of state added that the guerrilla killed it was dedicated “to drug trafficking in the alliances of the FARC and its dissidents with the Mexican cartels and intended to continue exercising control over the drug trafficking routes in the Pacific.”

The president, who showed a photograph of an arm of alias “Mayimbú” in which the name “Leider” is tattooed, added that this man “had been tormenting the department of Cauca for many years.”

RESPONSIBLE FOR ATTACKS ON CIVILIANS

The guerrilla chief operated mainly in the north of the Caucaone of the most violent areas in Colombia, where dissidents from the FARC, the National Liberation Army (ELN) and criminal gangs dispute that territory to dedicate it to illicit coca and marijuana crops.

Defense Minister, diego molanoassured for his part that alias “Mayimbú”, head of the Jaime Padilla mobile column of the FARC dissidents, fell in combat with a special unit of the Army.

“The fact that aliases’Mayimbu‘ has been killed liberates the departments of Cauca, Nariño and Valle del Cauca from one of the worst criminals”, said the minister.

Molano added that “three terrorist attacks in Santander de Quilichao, Corinto and Padilla were carried out on the orders of this criminal”, who he said “controlled the drug trafficking corridor” in a part of the Pacific coast.

Among the crimes attributed to him is also the murder in September 2019 of the Liberal candidate for Mayor of Suárez, Karina García Sierra, and five more people who accompanied her, whose bodies were incinerated in the vehicle in which they were transported. .

Cauca indigenous authorities also accused him of ordering assassinations and attacks against members of their communities.

In December 2019, the Special Justice for Peace (JEP) expelled from its jurisdiction alias “Mayimbu” for continuing to commit crimes after the peace agreement signed between the Government and the FARC, in November 2016.

In recent months, the dissidences of the FARC they have lost several of their leaders both in operations in Colombia and in combat with other groups on the Venezuelan side of the border where, according to the Colombian government, they take refuge.
