“Ukraine has a friend in South America,” Boric tells Zelensky

Chilean President Gabriel Boric communicated directly this Friday with the president ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he assured that kyiv “He has a friend in South America.”

Without specifying whether it was a telephone or Internet conversation, the president reiterated that kyiv “You can count on the full support of Chile in humanitarian issues.”

“Grateful for the support in the UN, humanitarian aid for Ukraine. We discussed the possibility of involving Chilean specialists in demining territories,” he said.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, last February, Chile has condemned the Russian invasion and has repeatedly asked Vladimir Putin to withdraw his troops, in addition to supporting the UN sanctions against this country and sending humanitarian aid to kyiv.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has left at least 14 million people homeless, internally displaced persons and refugees in the rest of Europe, in addition to more than 4,000 civilians killed in armed attacks and as many wounded.

One of the latest offensives, in the Odesa region, in the south of the country, left 21 civilians dead this Friday as a result of a Russian missile attack on the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky district, according to official sources.
