The parades for the 4th of July, American Independence Day, were canceled this Monday in different suburbs of Chicago (Illinois) after the mass shooting that has left 6 dead and more than two dozen injured in the residential town of Highland Park, close to this city.
In Evanston, about 15 miles from Highland Parkthe parade and activities were canceled and the beaches were closed “as a precaution”, local authorities said, as the suspect in the shooting remains on the run.

The town of Winnetka also canceled its fireworks show, as did Northbrook, Waukeagan and Glenview, according to the local newspaper. Chicago SunTimes.
During the morning of Monday, a man armed with a rifle fired from a rooftop on the crowd gathered to attend the parade of the July 4th in Highland Parka suburb of Chicagokilling 6 people and injuring two dozen.
Authorities are currently looking for the suspect, whom they have not identified but described as a young man “between 18 and 20 years old”, with black hair, and who probably acted alone.
