Liz Truss, the shortest British Prime Minister in the history of the United Kingdom

Liz Trusswho has announced her resignation 45 days after being appointed as British Prime Minister by Queen Elizabeth II, has been the shortest head of government in the history of the United Kingdom.

Truss announced this Thursday in an appearance in front of Downing Street that his successor will be chosen during the next week.

To the Conservative President He had 73 days left to surpass the mark set by George Canning, Duke of Portland, who died in August 1827, 118 days after taking office.

His successor, Frederick John Robinson, 1st Viscount Goderich, a member of the British rural aristocracy, also a Conservative, surpassed that mark by a few days – he held the Government for 143 days.

Andrew Bonar Law, the only Canadian to have governed the United Kingdom, was in power for 211 days, between October 1922 and May 1923.
