The king charles iii will host a reception on Friday at London with businessmen, politicians and international organizations to mark the end of the British chairmanship of the climate summit, before next week the COP27 in Egyptreported this Sunday Buckingham Palace.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will also not be present at the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

The Minister for the Environment, Thérèse Coffey, has played down the importance of the absence of the Head of Government, assuring that the United Kingdom will set an example of “global leadership” on environmental issues and argued that COP27 is not “one of the great political summits” international.

Alok Sharma, president of the COP26, which was organized last year in the Scottish city of Glasgow, instead criticized the position of the British Executive.

”I am quite disappointed that the prime minister is not attending (COP27). I understand that he has a plethora of domestic issues to deal with, but I think that going to COP27 would allow him to make contact with other world leaders”, Sharma said in an interview published today by “The Sunday Times”.
