Motorcyclist killed an official who asked him not to go through a construction site in Bogotá

A new fact of intolerance was presented on the afternoon of last Saturday, November 5, in Bogotá, Colombia, and claimed the life of an official of the Urban Development Institute (IDU). According to the authorities, a motorcyclist would have stabbed the contractor with a screwdriver, after he claimed him for invading a pedestrian lane.

The facts were presented around 8 in the morning in Barrio Pontevedra, north of the city, in the vicinity of the Sidewalks and Cycle Routes works, which are being carried out in the 116th Street with Boyacá Avenue.

The victim, identified as Cristian Andrés Lemus, 29 years oldwas one of the project overseers and was carrying out inspection work, when “he was injured by a motorcyclist who invaded the pedestrian path and he was upset when the official asked him to please not walk on this space,” reported the district entity.

The young man was helped by construction workers and colleagues, who urgently transferred them to the Shaio clinic. However, the wound would have caused his death minutes later, so he arrived at the health center without vital signs.

“It is very sad that such a young person loses his life in this way. workers in public works, they are human beings who struggle to get ahead and as one more public servant they are contributing to the development of our city; informed the director of the IDU, Diego Sánchez Fonseca, in a press release.

“There are more than 11,000 women and men who are exposed to the inconveniences of the works every day and all citizens must recognize and thank their work”, he added.

According to the reports of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, during the course of the events, the quadrant of the sector was immediately present and captured the alleged murderer of Christian Lemus.

The man was identified as Esneider Rojas Torrado, 32, who would have an active judicial process for illegal possession of weapons. Control agents had to safeguard his life to prevent the community of the sector from attacking his integrity.

The subject was caught red-handed and was transferred to the Immediate Reaction Unit (URI), where he will wait to be prosecuted by a judge of the republic for the crime of homicide.

The screwdriver, almost 30 centimeters long, and with which he would have attacked the IDU official, is in the custody of the authorities and will be used as evidence in the legal process.

According to the security balance presented by the Secretary of Security and Mayor Claudia López, in October there were 841 homicides in the city, which shows a reduction of 11.8 percent, when compared to the records of the same month, but of the year 2021.
