Paraguay: coronavirus cases rebound

Paraguayan recorded 151 infections of the covid-19 during the past week, which meant 129 more cases than in the previous week, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare reported this Friday.

The CEO of Health Surveillance, Guillermo Sequerareferred in a press conference to the situation of the pandemic between November 13 and 19, which corresponds to epidemiological week number 46.

Between November 6 and 12 (week 45), the authorities reported 22 patients positive for covid-19.

Sequera indicated that more than 60% of current cases correspond to reinfections.

Official figures indicated that one person died during that week as a result of the disease and that 12 patients remain hospitalized.

With this result, the accumulated number of infections in the country reached 776,850 and 19,611 deaths.

Regarding the immunization campaign, the authorities reported that 9,504,880 doses have been administered in the country.

Of that total, 4,001,602 correspond to the first dose, another 3,538,742 to the second and 1,632,871 to the third application.

A total of 331,665 people have received the fourth dose, according to statistics from the Expanded Immunization Program.
