A serious accident caused by the recklessness of a motorcyclist who was driving at high speed on a highway was recorded on video. Colombia. The precise moment in which the accident occurred is visualized: one of the members of the motorbike caravan overtook a truck to the right, at full speed, and hit a cyclist head-on.

The incident generated strong reactions on social networks about the need to stop this type of caravans, which have become common on roads in Colombia. Between January 1 and November 13, 2022, 473 people died in traffic in Bogotá, of that total, 200 were motorcycle users (drivers and companions), 173 pedestrians, 75 cyclists, 15 passengers and 10 drivers.

By figures like these, in the field of World Day in Memory of the Victims of Road Accidents on November 20the Ministry of Mobility, the League Against Road Violence and the Bloomberg Initiative for World Road Safety, paid a heartfelt tribute to the victims.

This is a public health problem to which the District Administration has put the magnifying glass working transversally in 4 lines of management: control, signage, pedagogy and communications, with the aim of reducing the number of victims due to road accidents in the city.

According to estimates, more than 60 lives have been saved in traffic since May 2020, the date on which the maximum speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour was implemented in Bogotá.
