Twitter plans to launch a new subscription offer on Monday, which will be more expensive for users of Apple devices, which includes an account authentication system on the platform.
“We’re relaunching @TwitterBlue on Monday – sign up on the web for $8/month or on iOS (Apple’s operating system used on the iPhone, ndlr) for $11/month to get access to exclusive subscriber features, including blue verification badge,” the group posted in a tweet on Saturday.
The blue badge will be awarded after verification, the company said.
This mark will be gold for businesses and gray for government organizations later in the week.
Those who subscribe will access the function to edit tweets after they are published or to download higher quality videos.
“Thank you for your patience while we work to improve Blue,” the platform wrote in its official account, announcing this decision that had marches and counter-marches.
After acquiring Twitter at the end of October, Elon Musk had announced his intention to launch a payment model to diversify the income of the social network, whose financial health depends largely on its advertising revenue.
Prior to the Musk purchase, the platform provided free verification badges for organizations and individuals, and offered a paid subscription to access additional functionality.
