Morocco: four dead after falling into a shaft of an artisanal mine

Four people died and another was seriously injured when they fell into a well more than 40 meters deep in a mine craft in the region of errachidiain the south of the country.

According to local authorities, the accident occurred in the town of Taous in an authorized artisanal mine.

The local authorities, assisted by members of the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection, went to the scene of the accident to carry out intervention operations.

The injured person was admitted to the Errachidia regional hospital, the sources explained, adding that an investigation was opened, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, to determine the circumstances of the incident.
