Few sporting moments brought as much joy to fans around the world as the sight of Lionel Messi finally getting his hands on the World Cup.

Many tried to commemorate this moment by scouring the internet for an Argentinian jersey with their name and number written on the back, or simply turning their favorite photo from the festivities into a screensaver.

Social media is also inundated with people showing off their new big man tattoos — some look significantly more alike than others — but influencer Maicol Quinonez seems to be in a class of his own.

The superfan has “MESSI” written on his forehead, with “D10S” – the Spanish word for “God” with the famous number 10 – and three stars for each of Argentina’s World Cup victories on each cheek.

Quinonez – who is not even from Argentina but from Colombia – describes himself as a “digital creator” and has 143,000 followers on Instagram.

He posted a video of himself writing the bizarre ink with the caption, “Beating the challenge. Love you @leomessi.”

During a Q&A with his followers, he was asked what his family thought of the new tattoos.

Maicol replied, “You haven’t actually said anything. You know I’m not hurting anyone. I’m not doing anything illegal.

“And the most important thing is that they know that I am happy. Because you never know when you will leave this world.”

But not everyone was impressed with his new look.

Instagram user Mauricio Hoyos commented, “People do really stupid things for likes.”

“I don’t even know why I follow you. Hey friend, call a doctor.’

After his story made the rounds online, Maicol was interviewed on Argentine television. When asked about his critics, he told his interviewers, “I don’t care what other people think.”

He insisted he was “satisfied with the result” of the tattoo.

Maicol also wrote: “I don’t understand why I am treated badly, why I am criticized, why I am judged when it is my life, it is my body and I am not hurting anyone.

“I don’t understand why an ‘influencer’ is more in demand than a politician.

“I don’t understand why people go viral just because they do stupid things, but no one sees positive content that contributes to society, no one shares it, no one makes it viral.”
