An Iranian commits suicide in Lyon to denounce the situation in his country

An Iranian committed suicide on Monday by throwing himself into the Rhone River in lyonsin the center-east of Franceto denounce the situation in Iran and the repression of the protests that began after the death of Mahsa Amini.

“By the time you see this video, I’ll already be dead.”, said Mohamad, 38, in a video that he posted posthumously on his Instagram account.

The body of this young man was found on Monday night in Lyon, the police told AFP, confirming information from the local newspaper Le Progrés.

After finding his body, firefighters failed to revive him, the same source said.

“The police attack people, we have lost many sons and daughters, we must do something”, assured Mohamad with a calm pose in the video published on social networks.

“I have decided to commit suicide in the Rhone river, it is a decision to show that we, the Iranian people, are very tired of this situation“, he claimed.

“When you see this video, I’ll be dead”, he added in his speech, in which he asked to support the Iranian people in their fight against “police and a very violent government”.

After his death, several calls arose on social networks to gather in Lyon to pay homage to him.
